Ryan Picks Up A Bug

Posted by Ian under News

Sunday was the third winter coaching session and Alex had to miss it with a bug. Ryan attended the session but halfway through he began to get an headache. He lasted about 30 mins and then had to sit the rest of the session out. Ryan and Alex will take it easy for the rest of the week now and hopefully they will shake off the bug and get ready for the Preston Pirates winter series this Sunday.

Coaching Gate Practice Session

Posted by Ian under News

It was a mixed session today because Alex has picked up a bug and was unable to go to coaching and gates due to a bad headache. Ryan did both and looked really good on the coaching session where we worked on riding close and cornering. Ryan found out his BMX hero Maris Stromberg had bust his wrist in the ABA Grands in America today and couldn`t believe it so that put abit of a dark cloud on his day. Its an early night tonight ready for coaching again tomorrow and hopefully Alex will be better and can do the session.

Gate Practice Today

Posted by Ian under News

Ryan and Alex both went to gate practice at Preston today and with a nice relaxed atmosphere around it was a good session. Alex was concentrating on the last straight, doing different combinations. First he tried  jump, manual then jump, second attempt it was manual, jump, manual and to finish of he went jump, jump, manual. Ryan enjoyed jumping the volcano and whipping it in mid air which really impressed some of the younger riders and he showed great bike handling skills. Its now down to the serious stuff and coaching tommorrow with Dylan Clayton.

FULL WEEKEND

It was serious time this weekend with gate practice Saturday then the first winter coaching session Sunday. Ryan really is working hard over winter to try and get ready for the start of the season. He was at coaching 10am – 11am on Saturday and then did gate practice 11am – 2pm. Alex has alittle bit nore of a laid back attitude and decided to stay in bed on Saturday and concentrate on the Sunday session. The Sunday coaching session at Preston was the first of the planned sessions over winter which will be progressed for both Ryan and Alex to be ready form the start of the 2011 season. The first session was about explaining to both Ryan and Alex the importance of attending all the sessions to get the most out of the coaching structure to enable then to be in top shape for 2011. With that done it was onto watching them on their bikes and foacussing on body positioning. The session was enjoyed by them both and they are really looking forward to next weeks coaching already

PRESTON RACE DAY

Posted by Ian under News
Today was the 1st round of the Preston Pirates BMX Club Winter Series. Alex was running on grand prix results but Ryan had to try and qualify for the “A” final. Alex ended the day with 4 x fantastic runner up spots to put himself in a good position for the remaining 4 rounds. Ryan went through his motos with 3 x straight wins and had 1st pick on the gate. In the final Ryan had a brilliant gate and never looked back winning by over 4 bike lengths.

It was also the presentation for the 2010 Preston Pirates Winter Series and the picture on the left shows the magnificant trophies they received. Both Ryan and Alex rode up an age group in the series and where still up against national level riders. Alex managed to finish runner up in his age group and Ryan took the title in his age group. The series was really enjoyable for both boys and they really rode to their full potential

Today saw Ryan and Alex pick up their Preston Pirates BMX Club Summer Series trophies. With both of them moving up an age group to try and test themselves in preperation for their assault on the National series Alex took a fantastic runner up spot. Alex`s result was made all the better as he was up against some “A” main national riders.
Not to be outdone Ryan took the 9 Boys title and again he beat national riders along the way. The trophies where the best club trophies they have had so far and they came away from the presentation with beaming smiles on their faces.

PRESTON CLUB RACE THIS SUNDAY

Posted by Ian under News

This Sunday is the Preston Pirates BMX Club Winter Series and the presentation of the Summer Series trophies. Ryan won the 9 Boys catagory and Alex finished runner up in the 8 Boys so hopefully they will come home with some big trophies as Preston always give out the biggest trophies. Both boys are undecided whether to race up an age group for the winter series or stay in the same group as at national level but that all depends on who turns up on the day.
Its good that Preston have gate practice on Saturday as they can get some valuable practice in before the race on Sunday.
